Joe Scarborough trashes the media because it didn't take seriously Snoop Dogg's threats against Gayle King

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough blasted the media because he believes that it ignored rapper Snoop Dogg's "attacks" on "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King.

Snoop Dogg expressed his disapproval of a recent interview in which King asked former WNBA star Lisa Leslie about the old Kobe Bryant sexual assault case.

Much of social media — including the rapper — was disturbed that King brought up the 17-year-old case after Bryant, his daughter, and several family friends were killed in a January helicopter crash.

During Monday's "Morning Joe," Scarborough insisted that the media ignored Snoop Dogg's attacks on King.

The rapper took to social media with a scathing rebuke of King's line of questioning during the interview.

He said, "Gayle King, out of pocket for that s***. Why y'all attacking us? We yo' people. You ain't coming after f***ing Harvey Weinstein asking them dumb-ass questions. I get sick of y'all. I wanna call you one. Is it OK if I call her one? Funky dog-haired b***h! How dare you try to torch my motherf***ing homeboy's reputation. Punk motherf***er! Respect the family and back off, b***h, before we come get you."

Scarborough called out the rapper along with guest the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Sharpton said, "The media silence is deafening [including silence from] people like Katy Perry [who] worked with Snoop in the past. People like Martha Stewart, who's working with him now."

Scarborough added, "It's time for people to speak out. Again, let's just keep this very simple, because it is very simple. A black female journalist asked a tough question, in the middle of a wide-ranging interview, and because of that her life was threatened. 'We're coming to get you' from a man it must be remembered, who was arrested for murder."

He continued, "'We're coming to get you' and the New York Times doesn't write an editorial about this? The Washington Post doesn't write an editorial, the Wall Street Journal doesn't, nobody talks about [it]?"

After the clip went viral, King insisted that CBS promoted the interview with a clip that was taken "out of context."

On Sunday, Snoop Dogg insisted that he did not threaten King.

"When I said what I said, I spoke for the people who felt like Gayle was very disrespectful towards Kobe Bryant and his family," he said. "Now with that being said, what do I look like, wanting some harm to come to a 70-year-old woman? I was raised way better than that. I don't want no harm to come to her, and I didn't threaten her. All I did was say, 'Check it out. You out of pocket for what you doing, and we watching you. Have a little bit more respect for Vanessa, her babies and Kobe Bryant's legacy.'"
