In a day and age when the news is permeated with doom and gloom, we’re all desperate for a happy story.
And that’s just what Steve Deace and his daughter Anastasia share on the "Steve Deace Show."
Anastasia reads the story of Brian and Christina, who hoped and prayed for a boy and were blessed to find out they were indeed pregnant with their long-awaited “mama’s boy.”
However, their joy was short-lived.
At their 16-week check up, they received the heartbreaking news that their son had a serious heart condition.
Brian and Christina sought the counsel of doctors they trusted, and to their dismay, were met with the same piece of advice every time: “just terminate the pregnancy.”
One doctor even said, “You don’t need the burden of a special needs child.”
Thankfully, the couple decided to have faith, trust their instincts, and go through with the pregnancy.
“Our Alex is going on 6 years old this August,” Brian writes. “He completes our family.”
“Has it always been easy? Of course not. Has it always been worth it? Absolutely,” he continues.
“We don’t know if we have three more hours with him or 300 more years, but he’s the best thing to ever happen to our family.”
Todd Erzen loves this story because it reminds us that we “are not God.”
“If you will not accept that,” he continues, “you become this — no matter how many years and how much money you’ve spent on an education – you become this shallow pool that simply refuses to see around any of the hard corners of life.”
Aaron McIntire agrees: “When we view life as a burden ... things that are explicit blessings of God ... we’re missing out on that blessing.”
“Every life is precious,” he says.
